See what working with me looks like!
One of the most thrilling aspects of sports photography is the ability to freeze a moment in time, encapsulating the raw emotions and energy of the game. Candid photography allows me to do just that, providing a glimpse into the heart and soul of each match.
When photographing rec team soccer games, I often find myself drawn to the sidelines, where the true essence of the game unfolds. From jubilant celebrations to moments of intense concentration, every expression tells a story. By anticipating the action and staying ready with my camera, I strive to capture those fleeting moments that define the game.
One of my favorite techniques is to focus on the players’ faces, especially during pivotal moments such as scoring a goal or making a crucial save. These candid shots not only showcase the athleticism of the players but also the sheer joy and determination etched on their faces.

While candid photography captures the spontaneity of the game, posed team photos offer an opportunity to create lasting memories for players and their families. Whether it’s a traditional team lineup or a creative group shot, posing players requires patience, creativity, and attention to detail.
When working with rec soccer teams, I always strive to make the process fun and engaging for the players. By offering gentle guidance and encouragement, I’m able to capture genuine smiles and expressions that reflect the camaraderie and teamwork of the group.
Choosing the perfect location and composition is key to creating a memorable team photo. Whether it’s on the field, in front of a scenic backdrop, or even in an unexpected urban setting, I love experimenting with different ideas to capture the team’s unique personality.
As a sports photographer, collaboration is essential to my craft. Working closely with rec soccer teams and their coaches allows me to understand their vision and tailor my approach accordingly.
Before each photo session, I take the time to communicate with the team and coach, discussing their preferences and any specific shots they may have in mind. By building trust and rapport with the players, I’m able to capture authentic moments that resonate with both the team and their supporters.
During games, I make it a point to be unobtrusive yet accessible, always ready to capture the action without disrupting the flow of play. Whether it’s cheering alongside the sidelines or sharing a post-game laugh with the players, I strive to become a valued member of the team community.
As a sports photographer in Sudbury, Ontario, I feel incredibly fortunate to witness the passion and dedication of our local rec soccer teams. Through the art of photography, I aim to preserve these moments for years to come, allowing players and their families to relive the thrill of the game time and time again.
